Kobe out. Lakers bench in.

You want to know what sucks about living in Hawaii? All the games are on early in the AM. I woke up to the Heat already having beaten the Knicks. UGH.

You think a girl could catch a break and watch some basketball…

but I’m up for the Mavericks vs Lakers game and thank god!

I’m just SO happy the Lakers can keep up the points with Kobe having been out for 5 games because of his shin.

I mean the Lakers have won almost all the games they’ve played without Kobe. Hopefully this game against the Mavs will be straight win #4.

The Mavs swept the Lakers last year during the playoffs so this win would be just that much more sweet!

The worst NBA bench in the league but they’ve been giving it their all.

And some great fakes by Kidd.

And I’m glad the Heat finally broke through with a win against the Knicks.

Especially since Carmelo made 42 points today. He’s had a lot of high scoring games lately.

The Knicks would’ve had the game today since their shooting percentage was only slightly lower than the Heat AND they had a higher 3 point shooting percentage but again what kills it most times is the ability to keep up a decent free throw percentage.

Some highlights for you guys who were like me and missed the game.

And Gundy’s rant of Flopping. Shumpert just SHOVED Jones! And Carmelo did the same thing to Lebron.

Back to the Lakers, if the Mavericks lose today then it’ll be a 3 way tie for 6th, 7th and 8th place. They really need to make a last effort push in order to win these final games before the playoffs. They have a couple days before their last game so it’ll give them some time to practice before they have to start the playoffs.

I just don’t know how it’s a 1 point game at this point because the shooting percentages for the Lakers are horrible.

Mavericks Shooting Percentages

FGM-A = 47.9%
3PM-A = 60.0%
FTM-A = 90.9%

compared to the Lakers

Lakers Shooting Percentages

FGM-A = 42.3%
3PM-A = 30.8%
FTM-A =  78.3%

Dirk has been having a hard time today though, as it stands right now he’s shooting 7 for 22 and Bynum is 8 for 21. Sessions is killing it though!

But I can’t have a blog without it being somewhat informative so here it is!

We all know Kobe has been out because of his left shin injury from that game against the Hornets but here’s some more information about the injury.

It’s actually called TENOSYNOVITIS.

“Tenosynovitis is inflammation of the lining of the sheath that surrounds a tendon (the cord that joins muscle to bone). The synovium is a lining of the protective sheath that covers tendons. Tenosynovitis is inflammation of this sheath.”

It occurs most commonly in the hands, wrist and feet but can also occur wherever there is  a tendon sheath.

Why does this injury affect Kobe and why is he out?

Well, this not only causes difficulty in the movement of joints but it also causes redness, swelling and pain in the joint area. It’s better to rest Kobe for the playoffs rather than to risk injuring him any further. Any cuts in the area might also lead to infection which would require immediate surgery.

The only thing Kobe and the Lakers need to watch out for is that with treatment recovery should not be a problem but if the injury and swelling was due to an overuse of the joint and the product of a repeated activity there is a chance that Tenosynovitis will come back which is not good news.

Tied game with 1.5 seconds left.

OVERTIME!

THANK GOD DIRK IS GETTING OLD! FUCK YEAH! HE’S MISSED 17 SHOTS!

“The only people who are unhappy about this is the 40 people who have to come in in about 4 hours to change the floor for the Kings game today”.

Hahahahaha.

Living it up the only way I know how!

Hey you guys I’m sorry I’ve been gone but I’m alive and well!

My last days in LA consisted of going to a Clippers game and sitting in a Suite and eating tons of Korean BBQ. YUP! Be jealous!

And now I’m in sunny Hawaii soaking up the sun in my cowboy boots. Hahaha.

The NBA scene has been going crazy while I’ve been gone so I don’t even know where to start!

Oh no wait…I lied. I know EXACTLY where to start!

I was at the Clippers vs Kings game where Blake Griffin made that shot when he was down. Thank God it didn’t count for jack shit though. Yay!

That was a pretty amazing shot though. Especially when you get to sit so close to the center of the action!

I CAN’T GO BACK TO THE 300 SECTION!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

It was fun seeing DeMarcus Cousins play too. And watching Blake Griffin miss his free throws made everything just THAT much better. Haha.

And while I’ve been gone the Celtics have managed to work their way up the Eastern Conference ladder while other teams seem to be losing their star players. I mean in one week Kobe Bryant, Kevin Love and even Corey Maggette is out. Not to mention the other people who have been knocked down along the way.

The only thing that sucks about being in Hawaii is that most of these games happen anytime from 10am to like 3pm my time. When am I supposed to watch these games? While I’m at work? Ugh…Whenever I have a chance to look at my phone to see the scores the games have already ended…that’s something that I’m going to have to get used to…it might take some time though.

And I’d still like to see the Bucks make the playoffs this year if at all possible…they just need to win their games and make sure that the Knicks keep losing.

The Heat need to stop losing though…for real.

Lebron made 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 asssists.
Wade had 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Bosh had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

But the Bulls had more players (5) having double digit scoring and the Bulls had a better 3 point shooting average which makes a big difference. 11 out of 22 3 points shots made is pretty impressive.

AND  OMG BYNUMS 30 REBOUNDS! That kid can only get better. I’m glad we didn’t trade you!

It was the Lakers first out of 3 games with the Spurs and Bynum killed it!

All 3 games that the Lakers have with the Spurs are all within a span of 10 days. As long as Bynum keeps up the good work we should have no problem taking out the Spurs for all 3 games.

It’ll be fun to see the Lakers play the Thunders as well on the 22th.

Speaking of the NBA…Mark bought NBA Jam so I’ve been watching him play and it’s pretty hilarious. They just use cropped photos of the heads of players and mount them on top of animated bodies. I’ll put a link to a clip but before I do that we just thought the lineup for the Phoenix Suns was so hilarious! It’s Nash and the dude who impregnated his wife. Ouch. Hahaha. Forever immortalized in an XBOX360 game…just priceless.

Or maybe I won’t attach a video…people keep talking over their videos and it’s kind of annoying. Meh.

And before I go this is the only picture I’ve taken since I’ve come to Hawaii. We stopped by Yogurtland yesterday and they had a Birthday Cake Batter flavor! YUM! We both mixed it with the Red Velvet Cupcake batter and it was like heaven in a cup. All it needed was a few sprinkles and a little drizzle of condensed milk to make it JUST right!

I’ll take more pictures of Hawaii…soon. Mahalo!

Now I’m going to back to playing Portal 2 a second time around! Thanks Mark!

LOS ANGELES LAKERS FOREVER! FUCK THE CLIPPERS!

I’m sorry I’ve been MIA BUT it only took my most hated team to be defeated by my home team to get me to write again!

That’s right! I was at the last Clippers vs Lakers game and guess what bitches?!

LAKERS WON! Because they are THE SHIT!

Who cares if we were leading by 14 or just 1 point. The fact of the matter is that we were leading because that’s what we do.

You ask and the Lakers deliver!

I need to order me a custom Ramon Sessions jersey! FUCK THIS GAME WAS TENSE!

Thank God I had some loyal Lakers fans by my side to cheer everyone on!

Kobe and Bynum KILLED IT TONIGHT! And I am SO proud of my Ramon Sessions! We all forgive you for your missed free throw shot…some of us even saw it coming BUT ALL IS FORGIVEN!

I am getting a Sessions jersey THIS INSTANT!

Lakers have got the best 2 out of 3 against the Clippers. The last game I went to was the first of the three so I’m glad to see the Lakers close the deal on this! What was the number one business motto that everyone should remember?

ABC! Always be closing! That’s right bitches!

We closed on the mother fuckin Clippers!

And how many 3 pointers did CP3 make? Oh…wait just 1. FAIL.

But Caron Butler stepped up his game tonight! He was on fire! Leading scorer for the Clippers tonight with 28 points!

There were some messy ass plays with some certain people missing slam dunks…but the Lakers won and that is all that really matters.

Bynum had 36 and Bryant had 31. Victory is so…so sweet when it’s against a wannabe team trying to take over LA. Get the fuck out of Staples Center and LA because this is OUR TOWN. There’s only room for ONE show and we all know who I’m talking about!

Our shooting percentages were all above the Clippers but that’s normal. Nothing surprising about that there. Wait…did you REALLY think the Clippers would have 7 straight wins? I think not.

Full highlights of tonight’s game. I love being a Lakers fan…it’s days like this where Kobe is 13 for 19 that make going to games SO worth it!

Who cares if Blake Griffin dunked over Pau Gasol. Dunking does not get you far in life. We can only see so many highlights of the same shit every night. That was so 2 years ago.

Does this idiot even know what “posterizes” means?

Definition: to print an image using only a few shades of gray, characteristic of posters

So…let me get this straight. Blake Griffin printed a gray image of Pau Gasol? on Pau Gasol?

RETARD OF THE DAY!

There were some HORRIBLE calls tonight too. A fucking technical on Sessions? for what?

And don’t you mean a foul on Kobe and not Ron Artest who was no where near ANYTHING! Refs are stupid as shit.

But it didn’t end up mattering because the Lakers are King.

Lake show does it again!

And the Lake Show is on a roll!

Lakers were leading by 15 then tied and it was a close game from the 2nd half on. The Celtics started bringing their game and the Lakers couldn’t stop the Turnovers but it turned out to be an amazing game among lifetime NBA rival teams.

You guys can watch full highlights here. Bynum was on a roll today! All day he was making difficult layup shots and even helping Kobe’s game by knocking in a couple. Fuck it was spectacular!

Ron Artest was ON Rondo like a beast!

What I’m disappointed about? The 17 fuckin turnovers in comparison to the 12 that the Celtics had.

Kobe was of course the leading scorer today with 26 points, then Rondo with 24. Rondo’s been killing it on the road this season and in conjunction with Pierce, they’re still pretty good.

Bynum had 14 rebounds and Pau 13. Overall our shooting was spectacular today! (Except for the free throws, which we’re usually pretty decent at).

Lakers Shooting Stats

FGM-A = 50.7%
3PM-A = 50.0%
FTM-A = 65.4%

That’s pretty phenomenal compared to how we’ve been doing the rest of the season.

Celtics Shooting Stats

FGM-A = 47.0%
3PM-A = 35.3%
FTM-A =  83.3%

FUN FACTS!

* The Lakers and the Celtics have met 12 times in the Finals

* The Celtics have won 17 championships and the Lakers have won 16. Combined that makes 33 out of the total 65 NBA Championship games. That’s more than half!

* The Lakers have been in 31 NBA Finals where the Celtics have been in 21.

* The Lakers have won 8 Season MVP awards and 12 Finals MVP awards.

* The Celtics have produced the most number of MVP winners with 10.

I mean just WATCH this! Bynum lobs it in for Kobe!

Oddly enough I was wearing my Allen Iverson jersey today…oh well.

And no I didn’t watch the game from the stadium or from the comfort of my own home. I actually haven’t had tv in years. Sooo….I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to work out so I went to the gym to watch the second half of the game.

I actually ended up staying the rest of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th quarter on the treadmill. I ran about 3 miles and burned over 400 calories by running at an incline. FUCK IT WAS INTENSE! And since I had such a great workout I treated myself with a trip to the grocery store!

I went a little crazy…

Yay! This is the crap that I eat! Now I can enjoy some nice Salmon Crostini while watching an episode of Chopped. But really, after that, I have to get back to writing my contextualization on deconstructionism…it’s getting there…

Now the Lakers are 3rd in the Western Conference with a PCT of 0.610! I’m so proud of you guys!

Yay!

Lakers beat Heat. First time since LeBron is in Miami

Was it because Kobe, Bynum and Artest was on fire?

Or was it because Chris Bosh was at his grandmother’s funeral?

What is with the “El Heat” and “Los Lakers” jerseys anyway? Wasn’t that SO 2 years ago during that whole Arizona Immigration law deal? Hell if I know. I wonder how much money it costs just to print new jerseys for random occasions. Tons I bet. I like how they’re both super color coordinated too. Hahaha. Aww~ Got to be stylish on the court and off! You know how it is.

But anyways, this was the Lakers’ first win against the Heat since Lebron hopped on board after leaving the Cavs. Sad, I know. But with an All Star team like LeBron, Bosh and Wade it is what it is.

The Heat beat the Lakers the first time this season without Wade 98-87. Although Pau Gasol was at an all time season high with 26 points, 11 for 19 shooting. Can’t win them all I guess.

But I think overall even if Bosh did play today that the Lakers would have owned it. Why? Because all of our shooting percentages were higher than the Heat’s.

Lakers

FGM-A = 49.3%
3PM-A = 29.4%
FTM-A = 72.0%

Heat

FGM-A = 37.5%
3PM-A = 29.2%
FTM-A = 66.7%

And with a lot of teamwork. Today was Kobe’s 3rd straight game of scoring over 30 points.

Kobe = 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 33 points
Artest = 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 17 points
Bynum = 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 16 points

 Gasol = 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 11 points

Everyone brought their A game today!

And I’m sure NOT playing Luke Walton helped a lot. I’m just saying…Unfortunately (or fortunately) this is the last game they’ll be playing against each other this short season at least until the playoffs if it gets to it. I’m just glad Kobe is out of his funk and is shooting better and has shaken off this Pau trade bullshit emotional rollercoaster he’s been on.

That first game the Lakers lost to the Heat everyone except Gasol was shooting pretty poorly. Kobe was 8 for 21, Barnes was 1 for 6, and Fisher was 1 for 5. What do the Heat need to work on to secure more wins? Free throws.

WAIT!

I can’t end this blog entry without talking about trades again. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lakers didn’t trade for anyone. Yeah, Pau’s been on the chopping block but I doubt it’s going to happen. We’re not going to let go of Kobe or Bynum and although we SAY we’re interested in swapping out Pau I doubt it’s going to happen. We might sign some other retired players from out of the blue ( FINGERS CROSSED FOR ALLEN IVERSON JUST CUZ ) but other than that I doubt the Lakers will make a move by this upcoming deadline. I’d love some Celtics traded to LA but it just doesn’t seem likely. We won’t have another ring but I guess we’ll have the old gang playing out as a team for at least one more season. Like I keep saying, it is what it is. I wasn’t expecting to be Championship contenders anyways. I just want to see if Rasheed Wallace has still got it! The Lakers do have the worst scoring bench in the NBA. Sad but so very true. *cough* Luke Walton *cough*

Yay for today’s win!

I STILL LOVE YOU LEBRON! Hahahaha. Fun times.

Pre All Star: East & West Matchups

Two big games to look forward to today!

Lakers vs Thunder

&

Knicks vs Heat

West vs West & East vs East. You’re not going to want to miss this!

Starting off with the Lakers vs Thunder, the clash of talent between old and new will be a great show. And since it’s right before the All Stars it’s a great chance to see how the teams play against each other. Tonight’s game will show if they are pumped up and ready to go at it with the East! 2 All Stars against 2 All Stars. They can also use today to size each other up, understand how each player moves and operates, how to best support each other. For those of you who didn’t know this is the first game of the season in which these two will be going head to head. Strange isn’t it? Since some teams have already gone up against each other anywhere from 3-4 times. This season’s a bit off but it makes it that much more intense and nerve wracking to watch and follow. Both the Lakers and the Thunder have won their last game up to this one so you know that they’re in it to win it! Being the #1 & #5 team on the Western Conference this also gives us an inside look as to what the Playoffs MIGHT look like. There’s still a lot of time for a shift in rank but when you think of the possibility of these two teams competing again when the time comes, it’s more likely than not so both teams could learn a lot from today.

So what needs to happen today for the Lakers to win? Kobe is going to need to put aside all of the trade drama bullshit and get back to playing a GOOD game. For the leading scorer in the NBA, Kobe tanked last night with 15 points. I was actually afraid that we might lose to Dallas. How unsettling is that? Me constantly checking the Ipad at work talking to myself about the game while I make drinks for customers. Most of them must have thought I was crazy. Gasol, on the other hand, is playing better than ever. Do you know why? Because he plays TO FUCKIN PLAY. I’ll forgive the 5 Turnovers he had last night because Kobe had 7. 7!?! Do you believe that? Thank God Bynum and Fisher stepped up yesterday.

The Lakers also need to be on top of Durant and Westbrook. Well, not literally but enough so they aren’t able to shoot. We can’t have them scoring like they have been if the Lakers want to win. Hayward and Collison may still be out from todays game so that’ll work to our advantage. And they need to watch out for Perkins when he’s on the floor. He’s been having a high number of rebounds every night and the one thing the Lakers do not need is Perkins being there to rebound every ball be it offensive or defensive. And we need to not play Ron Artest and just trade him somewhere. I’m sorry. And the only thing with playing Barnes or Morris is that they play well when it comes down to it but they get WAY too many Personal Fouls for comfort with the short amount of time they’re on the court. Just saying.

Maybe I’ll write about the Heats vs Knicks game later…I feel like that’s the one game everyone is already focusing on anyways. OMG A JEREMY LIN ROOKIE CARD THAT SOMEONE BOUGHT FOR $1000 SOLD FOR $21,800. FUCK people are crazy.

Who would your NBA 2012 All Star Western Center pick be?

Yes I am a Laker fan for life but is it just me who thinks we could have chosen someone else besides Bynum? I mean I know Al Jefferson hasn’t been having the BEST season exactly. But I guess a lot of the good centers are all on the Eastern side. The Gasol brothers? LaMarcus Aldridge? Maybe? If anyone has any comments on that I’d like to hear.

While we’re on the topic of NBA All Star Starters, Mark thought they could have chosen a better small forward for the East but I actually think Carmelo deserved the spot, to be honest. IT IS NOT HIS FAULT THE KNICKS SUCK THIS YEAR AND THAT THE NUGGETS ARE BETTER. (*Mark you do not know what you are talking about*) Anyways, if it weren’t Carmelo I guess it’d have to be Paul Pierce or Danny Granger. Don’t you think? C’mon. Who doesn’t like Carmelo Anthony? Haha. I guess we’ll see what happens when they announce the reserve players for this year. Hopefully they’ll do it soon since the games are about 2 or so weeks ago.

And since I said I would do it, here it comes.

Critique of the 2012 NBA All Star Jerseys

Is it just me or does it look like those jerseys should be part of a Dentyne Ice Commercial? Where Lebron and Kobe are fighting bad breath and their jerseys are all dirty and worn out and with just one piece of Dentyne Ice both of them go flying through the air only to have monstrous Slam Dunks and right when the ball hits the rim their jerseys break out in crystallization like they’re both heating up and cooling down at the same time. Product Placement! That’s how I think they look anyways. Where do I start on the font? It’s like we’re all watching star tours at Disneyland and the letters just spread through centuries and galaxies, up down side to side. Not to mention the stars do the same thing. What is up with that by the way? Fact: Stars do not look cooler at an angle. And what is up with the design inside the numbers? Do we really need to see NBA home court tiling in the middle of the numbers? Someone just thought a wood plank design in natural wood and silver was just so magical apparently. AND WHY DO THEY ALWAYS DO THE THING WHERE THE PLAYERS NAMES AREN’T EVEN IN THE SAME FONT?! What is the point of that? Too lazy? I mean you knew which name was going with which number when you manufactured it. Are people not going to be able to read slanted futuristic font when it comes to the player name? Or is spending that extra 2 minutes putting ‘Durant’ into a computer generated font maker WAY too hard for some people. It must be that same intern that designed that Miami Jersey I was talking about yesterday.

Then what IS the best NBA All Star Jersey design? Well thanks for asking. I’d say 2009 was my favorite.

Granted it’s not PERFECT but it’s better than the stuff they’ll be wearing this year. It’s clean, simple and memorable. I’m divided on how I feel about the flame stars on the pants but overall it is what the NBA All Star Jersey should be like.  Not sure why they used a slight variation from the font for EAST and WEST but who knows. I bet there’s just one MUST that has to be on all All Star jerseys and it’s that futuristic font they use. Do the designers that people will stop buying them if they stop using a certain type of font? Or that it instills memories and a certain type of feeling within people? *shrug* One thing that I CAN agree on is that I’m glad we’re past this:

Do you remember these? 2005/2006 All Star Jerseys…I’m just glad we’ve come so far since then. Haha.

Have a different favorite year? I could go over the pros and cons of every year but I think that’d be too much. I don’t know if I want to dish out $60+ for a jersey that I don’t think is designed well. The price you pay to be a fan right? I guess that was my little rant for now.
