Homemade Almond Jello

PhotoGrid_1359343927719 (1)

I finally made that Almond Jello that I had bought earlier in Chinatown!

It’s pretty easy. All you do is add the mix with 4 1/2 cups of water and bring it to a boil and once you do you can divide it into cups or put into a shallow pan to let cool which takes about 2 hours.

And because I’m such a klutz the water boiled over spilling all the sugary water onto my new stove top so I had to desperately try and scrub it off after the stove had cooled down. I think I got most of it but I know I’ll have to go at it again soon.

I put mine in a shallow brownie pan and it worked out perfectly!

Then you just slice it up and serve with fruit! I keep forgetting to buy fruit to eat with it so I have just been eating it by itself…but I’m not complaining! It’s delicious!

For those of you who like it, you can make it at home! They probably sell the mix at your local Chinese and/or Japanese food market.

Yummy!

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

3. Beat in eggs one at a time.

4. Next stir in the honey, water and the vanilla extract.

5. Combine the flour, baking soda and the salt in a separate bowl.

6. Slowly stir in the flour mixture into the peanut butter mixture. It is easier if you do a little bit of flour at a time in order to incorporate it better into the wet mixture.

7. Stir in white chocolate chips.

8. Drop spoonfuls (or small ice cream scoops) onto an ungreased baking sheet.

9. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until the edges are golden. This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies.

10. After you pull the baking sheet out of the oven allow the cookies to cool for 1 minute on the sheet before removing to wire racks to cool. You can also use newspapers but because I don’t have either, I put them on paper towels and they seem to cool just fine.

Jan 16 Homemade Pizza Night!

2013-01-16_13-26-13_850

Sorry this post is a couple days late. I’ve been busy with school and stuff but I said I would post it so here it is.

My friend brought me this Choco Banana Flavored Pocky so I took it to school with me as a snack.

I think I like it? It was something new and unusual to say the least. It had an interesting flavor to it. That’s for sure.

And I decided, while on my quest to becoming a better cook, to try and make homemade pizza for once.

2013-01-16_18-21-36_334
It took me a hell of a long time to find all the ingredients in the supermarket because they’re so spread out everywhere but with the help of a very patient and nice deli worker I was able to get everything that I needed. I need to pick up some thyme the next time around but all in all it turned out pretty good! It was a pretty simple and straight forward recipe and I didn’t really have to worry about messing up too much.

So here is what I did~

1. Preheat the oven to 450F.

2. Cut the Italian sausage into manageable sizes and cook on stove until browned and then take off and let it cool.

3. Spread the tomato sauce on the premade pizza crust leaving 1 1/2 inch for the crust. Then season with salt, pepper, oregano, basil and you can/should use thyme if you have it. If you don’t it’s okay too.

4. Spread an even layer of Mozzarella cheese on the sauce and then top with Pepperoni and Italian Sausage.

5. Put the pizza in the oven and let bake for 8-10 minutes or until crust is brown and crispy.

And then it should be good to go!

Excuse the finger shot. It happens. What are you gonna do?

I ended up making two pizzas and now that I kind of know what I’m doing, I’m going to make pizzas more often! Tomato basil pizza here I come!!!!

It’s just such a pain to drive to the supermarket in Hawaii. I swear if I drive down one more one way street I am going to lose my GOD DAMN MIND! …If I haven’t already.

Got some Ohagi from Ala Moana so I could have it as dessert! I love this stuff!

For those of you who don’t know Ohagi is a Japanese treat that is usually served during Obon and it is made out of a sweet rice ball in the middle with a red bean coating on the outside. It is delicious!

I’ll do more sports coverage and stuff soon too. I think I’ve just been bummed since the Broncos lost and since the Lakers have been doing just horrendously. It is what it is. You win some and you lose some.

Yet Another Gordon Ramsay Show

I don’t think I could even count the number of shows that Gordon Ramsay has been in charge of both in the US and the UK.

Not like I’m complaining or anything but Gordon Ramsay has yet another new show coming out. New for the US, half a year old for the UK.

What is his gimmick this time?

“Gordon Ramsay Behind Bars”

He is teaching prisoners how to cook so they can make a new life for themselves. Fun concept and interested to see how things turn out in the process.

Oh Gordon Ramsay~ what are you possibly going to get yourself into next…
