Best news of the day if you ask me!
Our USA basketball team ended up blowing the Dominican Republic OUT OF THE WATER! With a 113-59 victory at the Thomas & Mack Center on the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus our All Stars just gave it all they had to show that there isn’t any competitor who can stand against this awesome team!
And in case you missed the big show yesterday here’s a little highlight for you guys:
And with some good fortune, Blake Griffin is out as of yesterday due to a torn meniscus which is most definitely some good news for the USA team because we all know Blake Griffin can’t play basketball for shit. He will most likely be replaced by Anthony Davis as well as some other alternates to sit on the bench. We’ll find out for sure by next week when Blake Griffin officially withdraws himself from the competition.
This season has been nothing but injury after injury and just because it’s Olympics time doesn’t make it any different. Also out from participating in the Olympics is Dwight the big baby Howard, Chris Bosh and LaMarcus Aldridge.
But having Anthony Davis as a backup was a smart move and he will go to the next practice with the USA team so he can play the next four exhibition games before the first official Olympic game against France which is scheduled on July 29th.
Who delivered their A game last night? Kevin Durant. Made a game high 24 points in a record setting 22 minutes with 9 out of 11 shots made from the floor which includes making 5 out of 6 three pointers as well. No doubt that this young All Star will definitely be competition for the Heat once again come next NBA season.
Who else shocked and awed last night? None other than Philadelphia’s own Andre Iguodala! Made an impressive 18 points with 7 out of 9 field goals made with 4 of those being three pointers as well. To think he was almost left off the Olympics roster! But Iguodala will be key in the success of the USA Men’s basketball team, for sure. Why? Because Iguodala is great at contesting shots, stealing the ball as well as starting fast breaks. And we saw yesterday that he is also a great scorer which will be very helpful for the USA team. We need him to slow down defenses when USA players are being double teamed as well as to keep the ball from the other team. And for those of you who are still skeptical and would’ve rather had Eric Gordon or Rudy Gay be on the roster, we’ll just have to wait and see how Iguodala meshes in with the rest of the team but I have no doubt either way that America will show the world who’s boss when it comes to Men’s basketball!
Our USA Men’s Basketball team is on FIRE! BOOM SHAKA LAKA!
Let’s go USA!
