Roller Derby + Musical + KBBQ = BEST WEEKEND EVER!

2013-03-01_10-27-54_827

This is my all the stuff I did this weekend!

The picture above is from my lunch that I got at one of the food trucks at school. I got Red Thai Curry with Saffron Rice and it was DELICIOUS!!! I need to eat at this place more often! Hot damn! They always have amazing smoothies and the cutest girls but I didn’t know that they had good food too.

Later on Friday night we went to Korean Barbecue with Eman and Bri!

Boy was it delicious! Bri had never been to KBBQ but she liked it quite a bit!

Just looking at this picture makes me want to go back for more. YUM!

The fun doesn’t stop there! After dinner we went to a Roller Derby bout at the Palama Settlement!

2013-03-01_18-54-20_127

Contrary to the first banner we saw the South Shore Sirens vs the Topic Thunder and it was amazing!

The Sirens were down the whole first half but after the intermission they came back with full force!

Bri and Eman hadn’t been to a roller derby bout either so it was something new for them but I think they enjoyed themselves!

The Thunder ended up winning by 3 points but boy was it amazing!

I think I fell in love with one of the female refs AND Misfit Mayhem from the Tropic Thunder.

Some of these girls were AMAZING! UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING!

Props to them for being able to do something so hardcore!

My Saturday was just as exciting too!

We had to buy some new sheets for our bed so it was an excuse to go to Ala Moana.

I mailed off a package for a friend and I picked up some neat stamps too!

Muscle Cars! I LOVE THEM!

And guess what else they were selling outside the post office?

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!

IMG_20130302_1

I had to limit myself. I only picked up a box of Samoas and Dulce de Leche cookies!

I’ve waited so long to taste the sweet that is so rare.

And then we went to see a high school performance of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

I thought they were good for high schoolers. Some parts were miscast and the dancing was off at times. But what can you expect?

I still enjoyed it none the less!

And look forward to my Walking Dead Review that I will post in a few!

Oh My Glob, like it’s Happy Valentine’s Day!

560242_10151494653073383_910582053_n

I hope everyone has a good Valentine’s Day or Single’s Awareness Day or what have you!

Or you can just have a regular Thursday, it’s up to you!

Either way, I’ve been having a fun couple of days baking goodies and sharing them with friends.

I’ve also been planning a lot of activities for when Eddie comes to visit for my Graduation! We’re going to do everything!

Shark cage tours! Kayaking! Parasailing! Jet skiing! Scuba Diving!

And so we both need to save some kind of money in order to do that so I told him,

“Whenever you want a drink, just say to yourself ‘Pirate’!”

There are some shipwreck scuba diving tours so I’m going to see if I can make that happen…

And so Eddie sent me this Valentine!

Although the more I look into it, I really do think we need to be certified…

Like I said, I’ll figure it out.

I got Mark a couple sweets but he got a little munch hungry so I gave them to him a little early…

Sooo…I went out and got a few more things for him that I know he’ll like.

Cute right? The bag I got at Walmart and the Japanese snacks I got from Nijiya on my way to school this morning.

I’m so glad they all fit in there. Yay!

And here’s my little Valentine’s Day outfit for today:

Decided to go a little school girl today, just because I thought it would be cute.

Still playing around with photo editor apps but it’ll work out eventually.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Bellows Air Force Beach Park

397618_475047385891475_1992075500_n
We took a little trip to Bellows Air Force Beach Park today and boy was it gorgeous!

It’s a private military beach near Kaneohe in Oahu. The sun was shining, the winds blew a cool breeze.

I actually had a lot of fun. My friend Olivo is visiting from Taiwan so she took most of these beautiful shots of us.

Reading for class~ I feel like being at the beach is one of the only times where I get any good amount of reading done.

San Francisco Layover – 8 hours

2013-01-04_11-22-20_734

Since Delta has been fucking with all of our flights lately we got an 8 hour layover in San Francisco since they decided to change our itinerary out of the blue.

I swear everyone on that flight from Fargo to Salt Lake City was headed to Honolulu. I didn’t see any of THEM on our 8 hour layover!

UGH. But we made the most out of it by going out on the town since we had plenty of time.

Mark hadn’t been to San Fran before so I decided to take him to Pier 39 so we could see Alcatraz and the seals and what not.

I ended up totally missing the seals though. But it doesn’t matter. We’ll see them next time. No Biggie.

2013-01-04_11-58-41_608

2013-01-04_11-58-47_940At least we got to see Alcatraz. Sorry for the fuzzy picture.

I didn’t want to be TOO Asian. Hahaha.

After that we took a little stroll to look for a place to eat and we found the best place!

It’s this place called “King of Thai Noodle” and my Duck Soup with Vermicelli was SO SAVORY AND FILLING!

I couldn’t stop drinking the broth and the duck was so tender and moist!

I’m getting hungry just thinking about this place…

2013-01-04_12-43-06_815

And of course I couldn’t leave San Francisco without going to Blue Bottle Coffee!

Whenever I’m in San Francisco I have to have at least 1 macchiato from this place!

And the barista who made me one at The Station was just amazing! And of course I had to pick up a bag of coffee as well.

I don’t have a coffee brewer but I WILL FIGURE IT OUT!
2013-01-04_13-44-25_918

All in all we had a fun time on the streets of San Fran!

The weather was refreshingly cool and the scenery was majestic just like always!

I can’t wait to go back! Thanks for the layover Delta!

Did you see me on TV?

I actually look okay in the episode. Phew. Thank god. I’ll put up some screenshots when I get them. And for those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, (Yes I am guilty of selfless self promotion), I am on tonight’s episode of Bizarre Foods America on the Travel channel. Go check it out if you haven’t already!

But otherwise, today’s been a long day but a good one for the most part. My headache and semi-cold are a little better too which makes things a little easier.

And since I don’t have pictures of me in the episode I’ll upload these pictures of Tony Parker in the Olympics that Mark found.

Priceless right?

Well back to what’s been happening lately. My family left on Friday but we ended up having a lot of fun with them. We ended up going to the North Shore like EVERY SINGLE DAY but all in all we all had a great time. Lots of good food and relaxation time, just what the doctor ordered.

And then yesterday it was Mark and I’s 1 month marriage anniversary! We only realized it after our hike but that’s okay. We went to Manoa Falls and it was such a fun little outing together. I really enjoyed it and we’re going to go hiking again next weekend.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! A lot of people were hiking in flip flops and barefoot… There was so much mud and rain and slippery rocks that I don’t know how those people survived. My cowboy boots, on the other hand, took me there and back just fine, especially with the help of my hubby Mark being there for me when my shoes didn’t have any traction.

Yay! Fun times. We also ended up going to Costco and Walmart that day and making care packages for family. I love making care packages and sending mail! Who WOULDN’T want a bunch of goodies in the mail??

Look what they had at Costco though… WANT! Only is the cat is included…OMG Maybe this is the perfect Christmas present for Rolf! Who wouldn’t want to see cute pictures of Rolf in this little cat bed. Which reminds me…my mother sent me more pictures of my little babies so I’ll upload them soon!

Speaking of what I saw at Costco, look what else I saw at Walmart!

Vintage-y looking Cracker Jack boxes! I wanted a box but it only came in a set of 3 so I just took a picture instead. *shrug* Good enough for me.

Oh, not to mention we got Saimin for the first time. Noodles were so so but we had Sweet Potato Tempura and they used Okinawan Purple potatoes and they were delicious! Just like the ones you get at the country fair that just MELT IN YOUR FUCKIN MOUTH! UH! It was ORGASMIC!

I also got some delicious strawberries from Costco! Growing up I’d always eat them with sugar so that’s what I’m doing now. Yum!

I love our Sundays off together!

Hawaii Life in Style

My family including my uncle, aunt and their two children came to visit me in Hawaii this week and I actually ended up having a lot of fun with them.

And here’s a picture of me in my cowboy boots at the beach. That’s right, AT THE BEACH. I don’t plan on wearing any slippers or sandals while I’m here so get used to it. I’ve actually had a pretty easy time climbing rocks with these shoes, believe it or not.

We ended up going to Kickin Kajun for dinner and since I love that place, I was a happy camper. Mark and I always get the same thing and it’s always SO GOOD. Yum!

For those of you who don’t know it’s kind of like Boiling Shrimp or Boiling Crab in LA. They bring you your seafood order in a huge plastic bag and you just kind of go at it and make a mess.

This wasn’t our pile of food but my uncle’s. We usually only get the King Crab since we’re not really big Shrimp or Crayfish eaters. But boy was our Crab delicious! MmmmMmmm…

For dessert we went to Menchies but instead of getting Frozen Yogurt I just wanted a waffle cone. Literally.

But we all know I’m a sucker for waffle cones. I can’t help that it tastes SO GOOD! Yum!

And after dinner and dessert we made our way to the beach and had some fun just playing in the sand and chasing little crabs around on the beach.

Aren’t these little buggers just the cutest? I kind of want to make a habitat for them so I can keep them in our place but Mark wasn’t too thrilled with the idea. All he said was, “You’ll forget about it soon”. Hahaha. Oh well. It’s a little hard to make a habitat to keep crabs because most need both sand and water and some actually need both fresh and salt water to survive because apparently fresh water has more protein in the water for the crabs. And it gets a little more difficult because these suckers like to climb and if I don’t want a bunch of crabs all up in my business I need to make sure the lid is AIR tight. But I’m sure these guys would be much happier in their natural home on the beach.

I think I’ll settle for a hamster instead. I just have to wait till Mark’s gone because he doesn’t really want me to have one. But I don’t think I can resist! I haven’t ever gone this long without having a pet! It’s driving me up a wall!!! I just need to make sure I find someone who can take care of my little hamster friend when I go away for the Holidays. I don’t think most airlines allow them on flights so…I’ll ask around when the time comes.

The next day we tried to go to Hanauma Bay but there was no parking and it was too crowded so we decided to go to the North Shore. We went to Haleiwa so we could get some World Famous Matsumoto’s Shaved Ice. Yum! My favorite! And Mark was able to join us on his lunch break too!

So many flavors to choose from! I ended up getting Strawberry + Guava with Condensed Milk and Azuki Beans. It was just what I needed to help me cool down.

(We actually ended up going back yesterday after we checked out some North Shore beaches for some offsite PT for Mark’s company). But yesterday I got Orange + Creamsicle with Condensed milk and it tasted just like an orange cream soda! Yummy!

We also ended up going to get some lunch because my family was still hungry. (Go figure). But Mark had to go back to work. Oh did I mention that my family had (moments before) gone to the Dole Plantation and gotten two pineapple ice creams with pineapple. And they were still hungry? My god! Pineapple ice cream, snacks in the car, shaved ice and then BBQ & Garlic Shrimp!

I ended up getting a bacon wrapped organic Portugese Sausage hotdog without the bun. Boy was it a tasty treat! My family missed out BIG TIME!

This dude was the best! If you’re ever on the North Shore go to THIS guy! Some of the best and freshest meat you will ever taste! VJs, remember that!

Then we went to Shark’s Cove for some good old snorkeling. Next time I want to take a waterproof camera with me so I can take some pictures to share with  everyone.

Boy were the fishes neat. We also got to see a sea turtle which was pretty spectacular. I did get a little claustrophobic at times so I didn’t go out for too long.

Then it was Korean BBQ time with the family! We took them to Sikdorak because we love that place! Sorry I didn’t take any pictures though. I was too hungry to think properly. I could eat at that place every day if I had the opportunity to. Raw meat……

And then we took my cousin to Dave and Busters for a bit and we had quite a bit of fun. All in all I had a pretty good day with my family. More pictures and updates coming soon!

They say it’s your birthday!

My birthday has been AMAZING!

It kind of actually started yesterday! Mark got me all new tires yesterday for my baby which was such an amazing and thoughtful gift!

Now I can be safer on the road! Hahaha. I’ve worn out my tired some because of all that racing but now they’re all nice and new again! Muhahaha!

Also got some Ohagi rice balls yesterday at Ala Moana! YUM! It’s so hard for me to find these so whenever I do I get so happy and nostalgic for Japan…

Scrumdiddlyumpcious! Mmm Mm!

I also got to watch the end of the Suns game as well as the beginning of the Lakers game yesterday while we were waiting for them to change my tires.

I don’t know what I would do without Yelp!

And after all that tire changing goodness we went to Korean BBQ and Karaoke because of Mark’s promotion! Yay!

I actually had a lot of fun, there were some fun characters last night. It was like I was in an episode of the pale version of Jersey Shore but with military people. They can just call it North Shore, a bunch of pale white guys getting piss drunk and singing Madonna songs. PRICELESS!

And guess what I woke up to this morning?

This:

Mark woke up at 6 in the morning to drive to this 5 star donut place to get me fresh donuts for my birthday.

They were so fresh that they just melted in my mouth.

Yeah, be jealous.

And if that wasn’t awesome enough, after all the sugary sticky goodness we went for a drive all around the island. It was the perfect day outside so it was gorgeous!

Right after I took this picture this country bumpkin family walked out onto the beach. Boy was it weird. The Dad looked like Darrell from Storage Wars, they had 3 little boys with Mohawks, 1 older son who looked kind of like a taller chubbier Bobby from King of the Hill, Mom had half red half blond hair braided and they brought their uncle Jimmy with them and guess what he was wearing?

A famer hat, a hawaiian shirt and overalls. STRAIGHT UP OVERALLS! DOWN TO THE GROUND OVERALLS!

I wanted to take a picture but: a) it had just started sprinkling/raining and b) I didn’t really want to be beat up.

God…it was so weird though.

Then we went to get some Mexican which was delicious.

I had fresh clams cooked in Garlic butter with a side of Spanish rice. It was actually really good. Yum Yum!

And after that for dessert we had the best shaved ice this side of the west coast!

We went to Matsumoto’s shaved ice. Mark got Cherry, Grape and Orange and I got Watermelon and Strawberry with condensed milk. This shit is good! Who thought you could make shaved ice into something so mind blowingly delicious!

I’ll take whoever comes to visit! That has to be an incentive right? Lolz.

And then it was back to the road for some more adventures!

Gorgeous am I right?

Okay well I still have plans for the rest of tonight!

Being in Hawaii just makes EVERYTHING better. Yuuuuuuuuuuuup!
